The Log House
Enjoy a rustic yet comfortable Adirondack getaway in an authenic log house. The main living area has an open feel with adjacent kitchen, dining area and living room with Whiteface view. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances, cookware, and place settings for 8+. Dine next to a beautful, easy to use natural gas fireplace, or in warmer weather enjoy your meals on a large deck with magnificent Whiteface views. The living room features a TV, DVD and CD players and high speed internet.
The main floor had two bedrooms and a full bath. The master bedroom is a spacious room with Whiteface views and 2 large closets. The second bedroom has a set of bunkbeds and a "day bed", for a total of 4 single beds. The ground floor features a master bedroom suite, with brand new bedroom and bath, and a full-size washer and dryer in the utility area.
The Surrounding Area
This really is the Great Outdoors! Tired of going on touristy vacations and battling the crowds?? If so, the Whiteface/Lake Placid region is for you. With so many opportunities for hiking, biking, sightseeing, boating, rock climbing, cross-country skiing and more, you'll rarely find a crowd and you really can get 'back to nature'. Enjoy the hundreds of beautiful and peaceful trails and waterways that you'll find throughout the area.
Skiing at Whiteface
You'll love skiing and riding at Whiteface, where you'll see incredible Adirondack High Peaks views and enjoy world-class trails. With the highest elevation in the East and a great ski school for kids and adults, everyone from beginners to experts will have a great time. We are an easy three minute drive to the ski area.
Spring and Summer Activities in the Whiteface Area
In the summer, you can take the gondola to the top of Little Whiteface or drive up the Memorial Highway and enjoy the views of the mountains and Lake Placid and hike the trails at the top of the mountain. There are many opportunities for hiking, biking, sightseeing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing and more, you'll rarely find a crowd and you really can get 'back to nature'. Enjoy the hundreds of beautiful and peaceful trails and waterways that you'll find throughout the area.
Lake Placid (about a 15-minute drive from our house) is a wonderful town with a cosmopolitan feel, featuring many unique shops and restaurants. The restaurants range from casual to fine dining. There are also outfitters for kayaking, canoeing, and mountaineering adventures. Just outside of Lake Placid, you'll find famous Olympic venues that are still used for training and competition by world-class athletes. Winter or summer, you can watch live ski jumping, luge and bobsled in progress and even try it yourself (not the ski jumping though!).
The West Branch of the Ausable River (just a few minutes from the house) is world-famous for fly fishing.
